Generosity is the next phase of the Financial Independence movement.
Let's build it together.

Why does the FI community need a giving pledge?

1. We have a unique responsibility

Financial independence gives us the freedom to live life on our terms—but it also comes with privilege and power. While many of us plan for early retirement, 650 million people live on less than $2.15 a day. A giving pledge is one way to acknowledge our privilege and use it for good.

2. We seek fulfillment

Many who have reached FI and scaled back from work will tell you that having the freedom to do whatever you want, whenever you want, is incredible—but it's not everything. It doesn’t necessarily bring purpose or fulfillment. Research consistently shows that giving increases happiness. Generosity can fill the gap that financial independence alone cannot achieve.

FI is better with purpose.

3. We can lead by example

The FI community already values generosity—sharing knowledge, time, and skills freely. But it's time we talk openly about giving money. Public pledges help normalize generosity, showing that significant giving is both possible and rewarding. When we make our values visible, we create a culture that inspires others to give too.

Be one of the first to spark a movement

Help us reach our goal of 50 members by year-end 2026.

Early pledge-takers will help build the foundation for a lasting culture of giving. We know that cultural change of this scale this doesn't happen overnight. We're in it for the long run.
